AREVA Renewables – North America

As an innovator in low carbon energy solutions, AREVA’s industry-leader strategy focuses on four renewable energy sectors: solar thermal power, offshore wind energy, bio-energy, and hydrogen energy storage and distribution.
250 AREVA turbines have been chosen to equip large European offshore parks.
- Global headquarters for AREVA Solar are in Mountain View, California
- AREVA's 5-MWe Kimberlina solar plant was the first new CSP facility to be built and come online in California in nearly 20 years.

Solar
Solar Thermal
AREVA Solar designs, manufactures and installs solar steam generators for the global power generation and industrial steam needs of its customers in a dependable, market-competitive and environmentally responsible manner.
-
Offshore Wind
Offshore Wind
AREVA Wind’s 5 MW offshore wind turbine is one of the most powerful on the market and uniquely designed for reliable performance in harsh sea environments. Existing turbines are operating at 97% technical availability, with 87% of maintenance performed via remote control of onsite and redundant systems. With over 600 MW under contract and another 800 MW under discussion, AREVA’s a proven provider of clean wind energy. Learn more.

Bioenergy
Bioenergy
AREVA is the #1 global bioenergy provider for 10 MW+ solutions. Using sustainable farming and forestry practices for fuel, an AREVA biopower plant can generate up to 55 MWs of electricity. These projects can create 400 direct jobs during construction and more than 100 direct jobs during permanent operation.

Energy Storage
Energy Storage
Smoothing out the intermittent power generation of some renewable energy sources to achieve baseload grid parity is critical for renewable energy’s future growth. As part of AREVA’s broad portfolio, we are researching and developing next-generation energy storage technologies, including hydrogen energy storage and distribution.

Clean Energy Park
Clean Energy Park
Nuclear and renewables are the most effective technologies for producing low-carbon power to supply baseload. They provide utilities with a hedge against fuel and CO2 costs, have an unparalleled safety record, and generate significant added value locally, through jobs creation. AREVA combines these benefits in our Clean Energy Park concept by co-locating nuclear and renewable energy sources for reliable and affordable power generation, with minimal environmental impact.
Global Renewables Activities
AREVA is developing a portfolio of activities based on four renewable energies: wind energy, bioenergy, solar power and hydrogen power, as well as energy storage.
Kimberlina Solar Thermal Energy Plant
The concentrated solar thermal energy plant in Kimberlina (Bakersfield, California), is the first plant to be linked to the Californian network for 20 years. It depends on CLFR technology (Compact Linear Fresnel Reflection) that uses mirrors to concentrate the sun's rays and to produce steam.
