AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS) is a branch of AREVA North America that combines the capabilities, technologies and resources from multiple AREVA companies to serve the United States Department of Energy (DOE), and its subcontractors, in all phases of the nuclear fuel cycle. AFS provides key services as an active member in various projects that support DOE’s five strategic services: Environmental Management (EM), Nuclear Energy (NE), Office of Science (SC), Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
AFS provides risk reduction and cleanup services for the environmental legacy of the Nation’s nuclear weapons program.
AFS deploys proven technologies to treat, convert and stabilize fuel to meet nonproliferation goals. AFS provides systems and services for radiation detection and monitoring.
AFS supports the U.S. participation in fusion energy, collaborating with DOE, universities and national laboratories.
AFS develops and explores advanced nuclear science, such as new nuclear energy generation and recycling technologies, to advance proliferation-resistant nuclear fuel technologies that maximize energy from nuclear fuel.
AFS collaborates with others in industry in Renewable Energy Research and Development, specifically focusing on solar, wind and biomass technologies.
