AREVA has signed a long-term lease to occupy space in the Meridian Corporate Center on IBM Drive. The company will lease 180,000 square-feet and the complex has ample space for expansion to accommodate the company’s growth.
“After evaluating several options, we determined that our current Charlotte location provides the most flexibility for future growth,” said Tom Franch, Sr. Vice President U.S. Plants Sector. “This area is conveniently located near the University of North Carolina Charlotte, the Charlotte airport, and is easily accessible for our employees and customers,” Franch added.
AREVA employs more than 650 people in the Charlotte area. The current office configuration provides for near-term growth and the facility has space for expansion as needed.
AREVA’s Charlotte-based employees are engaged in a variety of engineering and project management activities that support the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of the existing fleet of nuclear power plants, the deployment of the next generation of new nuclear power plants in the U.S. and globally, and waste cleanup efforts for the Department of Energy.
In addition, the company is building the Mixed-Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility through its joint venture Shaw AREVA MOX Services in Aiken, S.C., and is involved in the Savannah River Site Liquid Waste Operations Project. Through these combined operations, AREVA employs about 800 people in the Carolinas.
AREVA and its employees are active in the local community supporting important initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity, United Way, the Arts and Science Council, Junior Achievement, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, UNC Charlotte, the Professional Engineers of North Carolina, the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and the World Affairs Council.
