The installation of AREVA’s TELEPERM® XS has won the prestigious “Engineering Project of the Year” award at the 13th annual Platts Global Energy Awards Assembly held in New York City on December 1, 2011.
The June installation of AREVA’s TELEPERM® XS is the first comprehensive application of a safety-related Digital Instrumentation & Control (I&C) System in the United States. This particular system enables state-of-the-art digital processing of functions for the Reactor Protection System (RPS) and the Engineered Safeguards Protection System (ESPS).
Established in 1999 and often described as “the Oscars” of the energy industry, Platts Global Energy Awards showcase extraordinary accomplishments by energy businesses and individuals worldwide. The winners for each of the 19 categories exemplify the spirit of innovation and an enduring commitment to employees, customers, shareholders, the environment and the energy industry as a whole.
“It is an honor that this project was recognized as a premier project for the industry, and we are proud to receive this award for the Engineering Project of the Year,” said Mike Rencheck, Chief Operating Officer, AREVA Inc. “We want to thank the teams that were instrumental in completing this project and moving the industry into the next generation of technology for safer plants.”
