AREVA Executive Honored by the Charlotte Business Journal

CHARLOTTE, N.C., January 25, 2013 – Tom Franch, Senior Vice President of AREVA Reactors and Services, was honored today as one of 10 Energy Leaders by the Charlotte Business Journal at the Journal’s third annual Energy Leadership Awards luncheon.

Each year, the Charlotte Business Journal recognizes individuals who have played a key role in making the Carolinas a global player in the energy industry. Franch was recognized for his contribution to the positive impact that AREVA has had on the region’s job growth, and on the country’s energy policy as an international player in the energy industry.

“Here in Charlotte we benefit from a large pool of highly-skilled workers in one location, including AREVA's 650 employees,” said Franch. "We work hard every day to ensure a safe, clean and more efficient energy future. It is an honor to receive the energy leadership award on behalf of all of the AREVA employees worldwide, and I am proud that AREVA is helping to write the energy story in Charlotte.”

Franch’s leadership in community and corporate partnerships, as well as his commitment to working with key stakeholders are not only advancing new ideas for our industry, but are encouraging positive change in the Charlotte community, such as expanded education in science, technology, engineering and math.

Franch has more than 30 years of power industry experience in various technical, engineering, and executive positions, including more than 20 years with AREVA. He is experienced in the design, analysis and construction of nuclear generation stations, including design engineering, consulting, project management, and business management and development. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois with Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering and architecture.
