AREVA Employee Selected as First Mover Fellow by the Aspen Institute

Press Release

June 05, 2013

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 5, 2013 – AREVA congratulates Laura Clise, Director of External Communications & Corporate Citizenship, on her recent selection by the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program as a First Mover Fellow. Clise will join the Program’s fifth class of First Mover Fellows.

“The accomplished and creative business professionals selected for this program, like Laura, are redefining business success,” says Nancy McGaw, creator and director of the First Movers Fellowship Program. “They are looking over the quarterly horizon and creating long-term value for their companies in diverse ways such as lowering operating risks, managing supply chains, meeting the needs of underserved markets, and embedding sustainability practices throughout their organizations.”

Fellows commit to undertake a “next stage innovation project” that helps their companies integrate profitability and social/environmental value. Clise’s project will focus on the intersection of AREVA’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education initiatives and the company’s workforce planning strategy.

“AREVA is building the workforce vital to tomorrow’s clean energy economy, and STEM education is critical to both the future of our industry and America’s economic competitiveness,” said Mike Rencheck, CEO of AREVA Inc. “Laura’s project will support a key area of AREVA’s forward-looking energy vision, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of engineering and technical workers through the creation of an integrated STEM strategy for the region, bolstered by the mobilization of our employees’ passion to inspire the next generation of industry leaders.”

The First Movers Fellowship was developed by the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program, whose mission is to equip business leaders for the 21st century with a new management paradigm—the vision and knowledge to integrate corporate profitability and social value. The members of this year’s class come from a wide variety of industries including energy, technology, waste and recycling, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunication.
