March 05, 2014
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 4, 2014 – AREVA Inc. welcomed 12 representatives from various U.S. government agencies to the AREVA Solutions Complex in Lynchburg, Va., last week. The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate AREVA’s support of the light water reactor (LWR) sustainability program for the life extension of commercial power reactors beyond 60 years. The visit also marked the first time federal government officials toured AREVA’s Solutions Complex, which was inaugurated in September 2012.
“We were pleased to present AREVA’s innovative technology complex in central Virginia,” said Tara Neider, president and CEO of AREVA Federal Services. “AREVA is committed to working with the government to support safe, reliable energy solutions in the United States. We are confident in our ability to take our innovative solutions for the nuclear industry and adapt them to meet the current and future needs of our country.”
The U.S. Technical Center, the Pump and Motor Service Center, and the Nuclear Parts Center were among the highlights of the officials’ visit. AREVA also showcased its solutions for reverse engineering – used to determine how a component was made – and for equipment qualification and commercial grade dedication.
The state-of-the-art AREVA Solutions Complex is a full-service campus of eight facilities designed to help customers and equipment manufacturers advance the quality, reliability and performance of equipment to improve safety for nuclear electricity production. It provides the unique ability to package together engineering and services for plant life extension and improving plant operations.
