AREVA Inc. Fuel Manufacturing Facility Receives Clean Performance Review from NRC

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 10, 2014 – For the eighth year in a row, the AREVA Inc. Fuel Manufacturing Facility in Richland, Wash., received its performance review from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with “no identified areas needing improvement.” The NRC announced this clean performance rating yesterday during the public forum biennial facility review.
During the meeting, NRC management and Richland Site Manager Dominique Grandemange presented information regarding the facility’s performance during the past 24 months.
“Our employees in Richland have demonstrated that their priority is to produce nuclear fuel with safety at the forefront of operations,” said Mike Rencheck, chief executive officer of AREVA Inc. “Their commitment to high levels of performance, which the NRC has recognized consistently, is a testament to AREVA’s goal of always providing our customers and communities with operational excellence.”
