CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 11, 2014 – Thanks to Habitat for Humanity and local energy company, AREVA Inc., Ko Zaw, Teresa Wah and their six children will have their dream of homeownership come true. Friends and family will celebrate the more than 600 hours of “sweat equity” that contributed to building the AREVA-sponsored Habitat home at a dedication on April 12 at Noon at 722 St. Jean Place, Kennewick, Wash.

AREVA presented a check to Habitat for Humanity Tri-Cities on Nov. 16, 2013 for $42,500 to partially sponsor the home build in Kennewick. This is the fourth Habitat home in the Tri-Cities area that AREVA has helped build and exemplifies the company’s sup-port for the local community.

“AREVA has been working with Habitat for Humanity since 2004, and our employees enjoy supporting home ownership for their neighbors in the Tri-Cities community,” said Mike Rencheck, president and CEO, AREVA Inc. and Department of Energy Ambassador for Minorities in STEM. “The employees feel a great sense of accomplishment and, as a company, we are proud of their role in our community. AREVA is committed to supporting those who are building a safer, stronger and more vibrant community.”

As part of AREVA’s sustainable commitment, the company participates in and supports activities that improve the quality of life for people living in the Tri-Cities community. Sustainable development is a core component of AREVA’s business strategy. More than 5,000 U.S. and Canadian employees work every day to make AREVA a responsible industrial player by helping to supply energy that is safer and more economical to the greatest number of people.

Habitat for Humanity Tri-Cities’ mission is to build simple, decent, affordable housing for families in need in the local community. Since 1994, Habitat has built more than 80 homes in the Tri-Cities area. Habitat does not build homes for people, but with people in partnership.
