AREVA Renews Safety Sponsorship for Genworth Virginia 10 Miler

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 16, 2014 – AREVA Inc. has signed on to be the official Safety Sponsor of the 41st running of the Genworth Virginia 10 Miler in Lynchburg, Va. Included with the safety sponsorship is the Safety, Awareness, Fitness, Excellence (S.A.F.E.) Strides training program which will be offered to all event participants 18 years of age and older.

Partnering with the Genworth Virginia 10 Miler to be the official Safety Sponsor of this nationally recognized event aligns with our corporate safety culture and operational excellence business strategy. We want the athletes to complete their running or walking event the same way they start – safe and injury-free,” said Gary Mignogna, president and CEO of AREVA Inc.
The YMCA of Central Virginia will provide certified trainers and coaches to support participants through a training program suited to their specific event and fitness level. The 10-week S.A.F.E. Strides training program is open to those that have registered for 10 mile run, 4 mile run, or 4 mile walk. As part of the S.A.F.E. Strides initiative, AREVA is also planning to fund a runner/walker personal safety workshop. A representative from the Lynchburg Police Department Crime Prevention office and certified martial arts instructors at International Karate Academy will lead the workshop. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. at International Karate Academy, 2820 Linkhorne Drive - Suite B, Lynchburg.
