August 14, 2014
CHARLOTTE, N.C., August 14, 2014 – AREVA Inc.’s Mary Alice Hayward, vice president of Strategy, Government and International Affairs, has been appointed by Virginia Governor McAuliffe to serve on the board of the Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium Authority. Replacing AREVA’s former board member Mike Rencheck, Hayward’s appointment is effective as of July 23, 2014, and continues until June 30, 2015.
“AREVA is proud to be a strong member of the Virginia business community,” said Hayward. “I look forward to serving on the board as the administration looks to grow Virginia’s economy and strengthen its communities through safe, reliable, forward-looking nuclear energy.”
In 2013, the Virginia General Assembly created the Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium Authority with the purpose of making the Commonwealth a national and global leader in nuclear energy, and serving as an interdisciplinary study, research, and information resource for the Commonwealth on nuclear energy issues.
