CHARLOTTE, N.C., January 21, 2016 – During 2015, AREVA NP completed 43 planned outages at nuclear energy facilities with operating and closed reactors across the United States. This work on boiling water and pressurized water reactors included component repair and replacement, fuel loading and unloading, and reactor maintenance and inspections.
“Our successful outage work over the last year is an important requirement for our customers to continue operating their nuclear energy facilities safely while ensuring operational excellence,” said George Beam, senior vice president of Installed Base Services at AREVA Inc. “Through innovative solutions and advanced technologies, our skilled teams met the unique needs of each facility while maintaining the highest standards in outage execution.”
Sustaining existing U.S. nuclear energy operations achieves significant environmental and economic benefits, including the generation of nearly 63 percent of the country’s low-carbon electricity. During the 2015 planned outage season, AREVA deployed more than 3,200 workers to customer sites and performed 1.6 million safe work hours without an outage lost-time injury.
