AREVA, through its joint subsidiary with SIEMENS, FRAMATOME ANP, has been awarded a contract to supply two replacement steam generators for unit 2 of Florida Power & Light Company's (FPL) St. Lucie nuclear power plant.
The new steam generators will be manufactured at FRAMATOME ANP's Chalon Saint-Marcel plant. The steam generators are scheduled for delivery in July 2007, with installation during the fall 2007 refueling outage.
FRAMATOME ANP has reinforced its position as the leader in the nuclear power plant component manufacturing and installation market, with more than 400 heavy components delivered to customers around the world. Over the past 3 years, FRAMATOME ANP has captured 45% of the steam generator replacement market in the USA, representing a total value of around EUR 250 million.
This contract award follows earlier FPL orders for FRAMATOME ANP replacement components, including reactor vessel closure heads for Turkey Point units 3 and 4, St. Lucie units 1 and 2 and control rod drive mechanisms and integrated head assemblies for both Turkey Point units. FRAMATOME ANP earlier this year began providing services under a five-year contract as the primary outage support contractor for FPL's four nuclear units.
