AREVA Wins Contract for Two Replacement Steam Generators at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant

AREVA NP* has been awarded a contract to supply two replacement steam generators for Unit 2 of Xcel Energy's Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant located in Minnesota and operated by Nuclear Management Company.
The new steam generators will be manufactured at AREVA's Chalon Saint-Marcel plant. Delivery of the steam generators is planned for May 2013 with installation to follow in September 2013.
The contract marks the second order from Xcel Energy for replacement steam generators at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. The first order for two steam generators was shipped from AREVA's Chalon Saint-Marcel plant in February 2004 and later installed at Prairie Island Unit 1 during the scheduled refueling outage in fall 2004. The transatlantic delivery was the first by AREVA to a customer in the United States.
