• Future U.S. investments
In 2009 AREVA will invest $400 million in a new manufacturing and engineering facility the company is building with Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding to supply the growing American nuclear energy sector. Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding is a sector of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC). The two companies have created AREVA Newport News, LLC to build a world-class facility to manufacture heavy components for the U.S. EPRTM, AREVA’s Generation III+ nuclear reactor. AREVA holds 67% of the joint venture, and Northrop Grumman, 33%.
Another investment to supply the growing American nuclear energy sector: AREVA will invest approximately $2.5 billion to license and build Eagle Rock, a U.S. uranium enrichment plant in Bonneville County, Idaho. Work on the license application has already begun.
